Using Microsoft Word to add Graphic Content

The Power of Microsoft Word Graphics

Snappy graphics, courtesy of Microsoft Word.

But did you know that word also has some great graphics producing features. Many of these have existed for years but the menu system of the program, prior to 2007, was clunky when it came to graphics. It seemed that these functions were always treated as second class citizens in the Word world – hard to find and hard to figure out. That might be understandable since the program was originally designed as a digital typewriter and after all, it is called “Word Processing.” Read the rest of this entry »

Graphene – Theme Options

Graphene, which is used on this blog, is a free, powerful WordPress theme with many built-in features. The bulk of these features are accessed through the Graphene Options tab, located under the Appearance tab of the Administrative panel. This post will give an overview of the features found in that tab. For a more broad-based discussion of the theme, read the post: Graphene Theme A Winner.

Graphene Theme a Winner

So Many Themes

1000's of WordPress Themes

100′s, no 1000′s of WordPress themes to choose from.

Need a theme for you WordPress Blog? That is a daunting task! I have been using a theme called Graphene on this blog since its inception and have been very happy with it. It has recently been updated and there have been some enhancements. I can say with confidence that it continues to perform well and I love all of the built-in options.

Trying to choose a theme for your WordPress blog can be quite an undertaking. There are hundreds, if not thousands (actually, there are thousands) of themes to choose from. Many can be previewed right in the WordPress “Appearance / Themes” menu and then there are countless others available independently, on the web. The amount of information provided . . . the details . . . of the themes can vary a great deal. Some theme developers will provide you with a lot of info about their theme but others won’t. Hub Pages Experiment

I have been blogging over at HubPages for the last month or so to see what that is all about. I actually opened an account there last year but never really got active. At that time, I didn’t have much of a plan or strategy . . .  I just dived in. Ok, maybe I did have a plan. I wanted to do something different so thought I would try writing humours story’s (at HubPages, posts are called Hubs). I wrote the first Hub, which was pretty good and even got some positive feedback and then followed-up with a couple more tries. The problem was that I was running out of ideas for funny hubs. Plus, I started thinking to myself, do I really want to write humorous stories all of the time. I stopped writing after that and my HubPages went dark.
